WHAT SETS US APART
The Living School Orlando supports families who have chosen home education. We are here to enhance your child’s journey. Our goal is to deepen our students’ love for learning and provide a fun place to discover, play, and meet friends.
Specialized Teachers For Each Subject
Our teachers have many years of experience teaching, and working, in the subjects in which they teach. They are experts in their fields. As specialists, our teachers have a deeper knowledge of the material they are imparting to our students. Therefore they know how to naturally enhance the subject with more creativity and in-depth knowledge. This gives our students more of an advantage than one teacher who teaches all the subjects.
Gardening Classes and Nature-Inspired Curricula
The beauty and wonder of nature can inspire, ground, calm, and encourage us. Our school focuses on helping the children connect with nature – a connection that is often lost in our society. Sustainable gardening is a core part of our program. Each week the children work in our gardens, learn about botany and permaculture, and how to better take care of the world around us.
Families have the option of joining us each semester for a service-related field trip. This past semester we worked with The Community Food Outreach program, and in the fall we will be teaming up with Feeding Children Everywhere and Operation Christmas Child. As always we help beautify our community with our sustainable gardens.
Our children start their day with yoga!! Not only does yoga help us use our energy better, it promotes a sense of well-being, and teaches us how to take better care of ourselves. For a great summary on “Why Yoga and Kids Go Together”, click here.
We give students countless opportunities to experience education through hands-on activities, music, creativity, and fun projects that will often take place outside in nature. Our goal is to create an environment where playing and learning become one.
Whole Child Education
Academics are broadened to include traditional academics along with subjects that are often left out or not included at all – like gardening, art, music, theatre, sewing, martial arts, foreign languages, and yoga. We provide an Waldorf-inspired environment that is cognitively balanced to engage the right and left lobes of the brain and at the same time engage the head, hands, and heart equally. Our blend of music, theatre, languages, humanities, science, nature and art help maintain that balance.
